keep an eye out at clooney's. workers say the super bowl is about having a good time within reason. >> it's fun, have a great time. don't be dumb. have some drinks, be safe. don't destroy other people's property. make it a fun night. >> reporter: on super bowl sunday city leaders suggested bartenders serve something other than alcohol and for fans to drink in moderation. keep it in mind as the city and the bay area hope to bring the super bowl here it our area in 2016. live in san francisco, cate caugiran, cbs 5. there's been a rush to scoop up 49ers gear but much of the stuff you see being sold on the street corners right now is counterfeit. one vendor said his gear was officially licensed but customs confirmed it was not. one able to told us the -- one agent told us the bargains are no bargains. >> downside is you're not getting a genuine product. the quality is probably not good. there may be chemicals that are

not approved to be used. >> official nfl gear will have a hologram on it, tags and higher price tag. the nfl gets a cut of the satisfies and distributes it among the franchises including of course the 49ers. san jose police are looking for several people they say stabbed and killed a man in his 30s. he was stabbed in the kenwood neighborhood. police are looking for four suspects between the ages of 18 and 20. this is san jose's second homicide this week and the third of the year. on wednesday a woman was shot and killed in her condo near tully road. san jose officers have arrested one of the suspects in a brazen home invasion robbery that happened on monday. that's according to the san jose "mercury news." officers say two or three men armed with knives tied up an older couple in their home near leeland high school. the home was ransacked and two cars were stolen. both cars have been found.

one was driven to the uvas reservoir. a number of east bay businesses could be shut down over gambling. state officials say five internet cafes in alameda county are nothing more than illegal gambling operations. now the state and the county are trying to get them closed for good. the cafes don't hide what people are doing inside. you can see customers there at one of the cafes playing sweepstakes games including video slot machines and poker. the state says they are illegal operations. but one of the owners says he will sue to keep his cafes open. >> we're a computer time. we give them free sweepstakes. >> they told us they are creating jobs. what they didn't tell us is they are creating crime. at this site there's been over a dozen arrests. >> the county hopes to close them within a few months but lawsuits could delay that.

4:34. an upbeat governor brown laid an optimistic vision for california's future in the annual state of the state yesterday promising education reform, holding the line on college tuition and continuing high-speed rail. >> living within our means and not spending what we don't have. the people have given us seven years of extra taxes. let us follow the wisdom of joseph, pay down our debts and store up reserves against the leaner time that is will surely follow. >> while brown's speech was upbeat he faces a fight even within his own party over some of his proposals including a plan to fund poorer schools at the expense of wealthy suburban districts. cbs reporter susan mcginnis reports on the latest step in

the obama administration's effort to pass new gun control legislation. reporter: vice president joe biden is heading to virginia today to try to gain public support for president obama's gun control proposals. >> it's not about keeping bad guns out of the hands of good people. it's about keeping all guns out of the hands of bad people. >> reporter: on capitol hill thursday gun victims and law enforcement officers joined a group of democratic lawmakers as dianne feinstein announced her own bill which would eliminate high capacity magazines and ban assault weapons. >> military-style assault weapons have but one purpose, and in my view that's a military purpose. >> reporter: the lawmakers say the shooting at sandy hook elementary school shows that assault weapons need to be banned. >> a number of the police who came to newtown said to me, we could not have stopped that shooter even with the body armor we were wearing with that kind of assault weapon. >> reporter: but vice president biden downplayed the need for

an assault weapons ban thursday. he says those weapons are only used in a small percentage of crimes. >> i'm much less concerned quite frankly about what you call an assault weapon than i am about magazines and the number of rounds that can be held in a magazine. >> reporter: and even sponsors of the bill acknowledge an assault weapons ban is a tough sell on capitol hill. >> we owe it to our constituents and our country to try. >> reporter: the nra calls the feinstein bill a wrong headed approach and says gun bans don't work. susan mcginnis, cbs news, washington. while introducing her bill, senator feinstein got personal. she talked about the day george moscone and harvey milk were assassinated at san francisco city hall. i was the one that found supervisor milk's body and put a finger in a bullet hole

trying to get a pulse. once you have been been through one of these episodes, once you see what the crime scene is like, it isn't like the movies. it changes your view of weapons. >> feinstein's bill would ban more than 150 assault style firearms and high capacity magazines but she concedes that it has little chance of making it through congress. we have some live pictures right now. this is tahrir square in egypt. it's a protest anniversary. as you may recall a year ago today a number of people -- hundreds of thousands of students and people in egypt -- was it two years ago, pardon me -- where they began to overthrow their government. >> that was the uprising commonly known as the arab spring that led to the ouster of hosni mubarak, the two-year anniversary of protests in cairo, egypt. a live look there at the square. okay. it is a friday.

[ laughter ] >> i am feeling much better now. it's going to be an interesting weekend. could see some showers but i think the big story will be the cold temperatures. it's going to be chilly as we head into the weekend and the cold storm plunges into the bay area. it looks like leftover showers outside our hi-def doppler picking up on that not a whole lot but you can see a couple of pop-up showers now in toward the livermore valley a few light showers. so if you are stepping outside, don't be surprised if you need the windshield wiper ever so briefly this morning. we have a couple systems. one is going to push in later bringing with it cold air for the weekend. right now those temperatures in the 40s and 50s, much chillier throughout the weekend. we'll talk about that coming up. let's check the roads with elizabeth. >> as you mentioned the roads may be wet this morning. so be extra careful as you head out. so far there's no overnight roadwork across the bay bridge, which is -- so you can see

"friday light" so far heading towards the incline section towards treasure island. elsewhere to our maps and other live traffic cameras. this is the nimitz. both directions of 880 still roadwork in lanes northbound and southbound between 980 and 66. close to the coliseum. and just a quick heads up that eastbound roadwork on highway 84 the dumbarton should wrap up in the next hour and a half close to 6:00. that is traffic. back to you guys. >> thank you. new details on a shootinger in a bart station earlier this week. police now say two albany high school students were shot wednesday when they were asked about their shoes. it happened on a walking path near the el cerrito bart station after school had let out. police did not elaborate on the nature of the shooters. those two teens are expected to recover. the two gunmen are still on the loose. in other headlines around the bay this morning, a warning to parents and students in antioch after a man tried to lure a boy into his car.

that happened after school yesterday near sutter elementary school. the stranger approached the boy claiming he was sent by a family member to pick him up. the student quickly walked away. the man has gray hair, driving a light blue '70s era car. in san francisco, police are looking for the robbers you can see here in the surveillance video. investigators say these two men pulled a gun on workers and stole prescription drugs last week from two pharmacies one in the richmond district, the other in the sunset. no one was hurt. the sharks are back. they are celebrating a win. last night they played the phoenix coyotes in the first nhl home game in more than nine months while fans have missed the hockey, restaurant owners say they have missed the booming business that the sharks bring to downtown san jose. the sharks won last night 5-3. bart trains are getting new security equipment that will also help riders stay connected. the "san francisco chronicle" reports bart is buying communications devices that will send live video from the

5:45. it is cool out this morning. -- 4:45. it's cool out this morning. >> cold they are weekend. my brother, my younger brother built a halfpipe and i decided i was going to be the older brother and ride up that with my skateboard? he fell off the top, sprained my ankle and had a big old lump on my head. that's the last time i rode one. >> i stay off them. >> glad you're a weatherman now. a lot of clouds out there now. still some widely scattered showers popping up. you can see that on our high- def doppler radar as it's moving in along the santa cruz mountains and in the parts of the south bay now. not a lot of moisture. if you are headed out you could run into that. a little fog out there, as well. so watch out for that. foggy early on. temperatures in the 50s. by the afternoon we are going to see some sunshine in between some of the clouds but still a chance of a few light showers outside with 50s and 60s. got a couple of pressure systems one in the south here dragging moisture up in the bay area. this is going to be dropping in

over the weekend cooling down the temperatures. so going to leave things unsettled and colder for the weekend. these temperatures dropping off. that will probably be the main weather story throughout the weekend. clouds and showers mainly over the mountains especially toward the afternoon. then that slides on through and that next system comes in. that will bring with it a few more clouds and slight chance of showers as we head in toward saturday. around the state you will see 60s in the central valley, 40s in the high country. our bay looking at 50s and 60s for highs. looks like the next couple of days maybe looking more impressive than it will be. not going to see that much rain but there's a slight chance of scattered showers on saturday and sunday. drier weather returns and it will be warmer as we head in toward the middle of next week. that's a look at weather. let's check on traffic with elizabeth. >> thank you, lawrence. the roads are still slick a lot of rain headed our way. let's check the san mateo bridge first westbound 92 no problems both directions across

the span. roadwork on the nimitz. 880 between 980 and 66, sounds like both directions right now have various lanes blocked. so we spoke to caltrans about 6:00 this morning is when they are hoping to reopen some lanes. in the meantime, it's light. so if you have an early-morning flight by oakland airport, heading to the oakland coliseum for any reason, it continues to move well down towards hayward. dumbarton bridge has areas of overnight roadwork eastbound 84. no roadwork we're told in the westbound lanes just eastbound until 6:00 this morning. and bart so far off to a great start. no delay on any of the bart lines including all those stops heading towards downtown san francisco. that's a check of traffic. back to you guys. >> thank you. bay area music legend rick stevens is doing what he does best singing. it's a rare sight considering the singer spent the last 36 years behind bars. 72-year-old stevens performed at bimbo's in san francisco last night. the late '60s and '70s he was

sandwiches. the label comes from the marine stewardship council that certifies products that come from sustainable fishing practices. to win the super bowl you have to outlast, outperform the other team. and part of that winning strategy is food. in today's healthwatch, dr. kim mulvihill reports on the best way to fuel your local football player. reporter: the 9ers are back to work. but it's what you don't see on the field that may give them the edge. >> i mean, it's important to this game. if you don't do the right things -- >> reporter: the right thing to fuel a big win is to fuel players with top nutrition. >> mostly i keep it healthy because i can tell the difference as far as endurance when i'm running. >> that's sort of the hidden aspect of training. nutrition is really the hidden aspect of training. you don't know what the other team is going to prepare. >> reporter: suzanne nelson is director of sports performance nutrition at cal and a former team nutritionist with the

9ers. >> who has the advantage? the team that's well fueled has the advantage. the team that's well hydrated has the advantage. >> reporter: football players have a much higher demand for fuel. that means more calories and critical nutrients. how much varies according to position. >> i know that everybody -- all the players have specific diets that they stick to. >> offensive linemen may need around 3,000, 3500 calories where one of the skill players who is getting a lot of reps, a runningback or wide receiver, is going to be five, six thousand calories easily. >> reporter: nelson says players need to stay fueled all day especially after exercise. >> getting fuel back into the muscle, helping the muscle repair itself and rebuild. >> reporter: eating well, that's the game plan. >> we tend not to eat a lot before a game, but during the week, you want to make sure you eat healthy. >> reporter: dr. kim mulvihill, cbs 5. >> dr. kim says she was impressed by the 9ers in the locker room because they eat a

lot of salads. dr. kim in the locker room. >> working it. so what could be sweeter than another 49ers super bowl win? how about kap cakes? the family of the 9er quarterback whipped up these pastries in honor of colin's super bowl appearance and delivered them to the pittman high school where the young kaepernick graduated and friends still remember him well. >> he brings out the best in everybody because his competitiveness and drive spreads like wildfire. >> former teachers say kaepernick was just as competitive in the classroom as he was on the field. he graduated with a 4.0 grade point average. he wanted to major in business. he would have a lot of money to invest if he doesn't already. probably a good thing. >> i think he will be busy with the football thing for a while. eight minutes before 5:00. box office drama over the new steve jobs biopic. the apple icon who claims the movie got it wrong. >> it may be a bigger challenge

they say they have been betrayed by the "muslim brotherhood" that propelled morrissey into power into an election last year. the health ministry reports at least 16 people were wounded as gas bombs and firecrackers are being thrown between protestors and police. we will continue to monitor what's going on in tahrir square. closer to home the search is on for several suspects that stabbed and killed a man in san jose. this is the city's second murder in as many days and cbs 5 reporter elissa harrington is at the police department with more in san jose. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. busy week for the san jose police department investigating two homicides that happened within just a day of each other. the latest victim a man in his 30s. he was stabbed to death last night. san jose police were called just before 8:30. they say the victim was outside an apartment complex in the kenwood neighborhood off monterey highway when he was attacked by a group of men. he was stabbed multiple times and died about an hour later at
